This is me checking out the herbs, trying to work out if it’s Alchemilla or Calendula. They cut each flower off by hand so many to cut off….
Chatting with Lucie about different herbs she uses and the fantastic range of organic products…..
All organic and grown in Wales for teas and infusions. I was instructed to pick Calendula which helps balance the hormones throughout the month……..
In august on my day off I headed out to West Wales in search of Liliwen Farm.
I tapped in the postcode to my sat nav and headed of into the sun.
At the point the voice on my sat nav said stop! All I could see were high hedges.
After a quick phone call to Lucie Scott to get further directions, I ventured another 500 m down the lane to a gate with the sign on it over grown by holly.
With about 3 km of off the road along a very bumpy track I came to the herb Oasis.
I was warmly welcomed and immediately offered some herb tea by Lucie, after a quick talk about the layout of the farm off I ventured to herb gardens, polly tunnels and up thought the woods to the wild raspberry bushes.
We sat and chatted about the wide range of products that Lucie makes on the farm and the range of benefits each has.
I found it hard to choose which ones I liked most, and in the end I bought a selection of teas, creams and oils.
As her web site says “We are passionate about herbs – the powerful ways they can enhance your food, and the many health benefits they have. We want to bring them to you in the most natural way possible through our range of lovely products”. And she is, if you want to know more about the farm and the products check out http://www.liliwenherbs.com/
The other pictures are of me doing a spot of outdoor filming for an interview for International News, I was invited to speak about the Royal birth and what mothers could do to keep their babies cool and hydrated during hot weather.
Lastly, check out a new documentary series ‘The Midwives’ on BBC 2 Wales Tuesday nights at 21:00 from the 20thAugust .
